FORT WORTH, TXApril 15, 2018 – Don Allen, P.E., Director of Engineering at Super Stud Building Products, Inc., will be representing the multi-regional steel framing and accessories manufacturer at this year’s American Society of Civil Engineers ( ASCE) Structural Engineering Institute’s annual conference. Allen will be addressing Thermal Bridging in a technical session Friday, April 20th from 9:30 – 10:30am. Allen will cover the implications, benefits, challenges, and code compliance ramifications of cold-formed steel thermal design applications as well as highlighting industry trends. This session will benefit architects, engineers, specifiers, material suppliers, code consultants, owners, owner’s representatives, construction managers, students and young professionals.

SEI, which runs from April 19 – 21 st, is an active network of more than 30,000 structural engineers within the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). SEI encompasses all facets of the structural engineering community and is committed to advancing and serving the structural engineering profession while influencing change on broader issues that shape the entire civil engineering community.

About Don Allen, P.E.

Don Allenis an internationally known expert on cold-formed steel (CFS) structural design. Allen has given presentations on steel design on four continents and was the 2013 recipient of the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute(CFSEI) Distinguished Service award. As Director of Engineering for Super Stud Building Products, Allen is involved with hundreds of CFS projects each year. With a special interest in the structural role of materials in sustainable construction, Allen is a LEED® Accredited Professional, a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Committee on Sustainability, the ASCE SEI Committee on Cold-Formed Steel, and is chairman of the General Provisions subcommittee of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Committee on Framing Standards. Before joining Super Stud, Allen spent nearly a decade serving concurrently as Technical Director for the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA), the Steel Framing Alliance, and the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute.
