Don Allen, P.E., LEED AP, SECB, Director of Engineering at Super Stud Building Products, will be presenting at the Structural Engineers Association of Georgia (SEAOG) on February 13, 2019.

EDISON, NJ – Super Stud Building Products, Inc., the multi-regional cold-formed metal framing members and accessories manufacturer, is proud to announce that Don Allen, P.E., LEED AP, SECB, Director of Engineering, will be running a program entitled Opportunities and Pitfalls in Designing and Specifying Cold-Formed Steel, hosted by the Structural Engineers Association of Georgia.

The program, scheduled for February 13, 2019 at the Cross-Creek Cafe in Atlanta, GA, will focus on the engineer of record's responsibilities with respect to delegated design, and how this is addressed in the building codes and in the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Code of Standard Practice. In addition, special and problematic detailing will be covered: alignment framing, cantilevers and parapets, use of structural steel versus cold-formed steel, and non-structural considerations for these structural members: including thermal transfer, fire resistance, and situations that sometimes lead to change orders or litigation..

About Don Allen, P.E., LEED AP, SECB:

Don Allen has been involved in cold-formed steel framing design since 1990, and currently serves as Director of Engineering for Super Stud Building Products. He chairs the Education Committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute and is actively involved in the development of ASTM and AISI standards. Having spent more than a decade in private practice and served over nine years as technical direc­tor for both the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association and the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute, Allen has seen firsthand what works and what does not in CFS lateral design. Allen lectures and writes about CFS design and construction issues regularly and is the 2013 recipient of the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) Distinguished Service Award. Allen is a Registered and Board-Certified Professional Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional.
