Don Allen to Present at AEC BuildTech

Super Stud Building Products, Inc., the multi-regional cold-formed metal framing members and accessories manufacturer, is proud to announce that Don Allen, P.E., LEED AP, Director of Engineering, will be presenting at the AEC BuildTech Conference and Expo.

The session, entitled Assessing Cold-Formed Steel Enclosures versus Alternative Enclosures, will be part of the Building Envelope series of conference sessions and discussions. The session assesses the research and methodology of cold-formed steel enclosures compared to other enclosure types in commercial buildings. This presentation highlights the advantages of cold-formed steel enclosures and their competitiveness when compared to other enclosure systems. Session participants will understand the relationship between embodied energy and operating energy in various building types, assess various wall and roof enclosure systems and their performance, and apply concepts to help improve sustainability factors.

About Don Allen, PE, LEED AP

Don is an internationally known expert in cold-formed steel design, who serves as Director of Engineering for Super Stud Building Products. Allen chairs the Education Committee of the American Iron and Steel Institute, is actively involved in the development of ASTM and AISI standards, and has designed projects in Europe, Africa, and North America. In addition to working for steel product manufacturers, Allen has spent more than a decade in private practice and served over nine years as technical director for the Steel Stud Manufacturers Association (SSMA), the Steel Framing Alliance (SFA), and the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI). Allen is the 2013 winner of the CFSEI's annual Distinguished Service Award.
